Yes, you ABSOLUTELY need to use Social Media for your business

When have you ever called a telemarketer back? telemarketer_artWhen have you ever turned on the TV and channel surfed for commercials to watch? I am going to assume that most people have never done these things. If we have anything in common, you must hate telephone solicitations and ads as much as I do. Another word for these sales attempts is interruption marketing. If we hate interruptions so much, why are companies still spending their money and time on these campaigns?

For many of us there is no doubt that Social Media is the new frontier for advertising. Not advertising in the traditional, interruptive sense, but marketing with a new and revolutionary spin. Permission marketing is the new paradigm, and Social Media is the perfect frontier. Consumers turn to social networks where they can find reviews of products and services, and can ask questions of willing experts for free.

However, a large number of skeptics are still asking the same question: Is Social Media right for my particular business? The answer, to me, seems simple enough. Why would you want to interrupt someone when you could let them come to you instead? Using a blog or Facebook or Twitter to publish your content gives consumers to opportunity to come to you willingly, in the precise moment that they are seeking advice, solutions and answers. You don’t have to interrupt anyone when everyone is listening…wouldn’t you rather have their permission to share your product?

That is the beauty of Social Media. You don’t have to interrupt anymore.

And for those businesses who currently do not employ interruption marketing strategies, there are still legitimate reasons for you to employ Social Media for the marketing of your brand. I will discuss concepts more relevant to you in my next post.

Here are some other blogs posts dealing with this same question: Why Social Media?
